Annie Shan is Darren's younger sister and the mother of Darius Shan. Her parents are Dermot Shan and Angela Shan. She returned in the 11th book (Lord of the Shadows). She has a child with Steve Leonard named Darius Shan.

Cirque Du Freak (book)[]
Annie Shan and Darren always got on well, but when the Cirque du Freak came to town she wanted to go, Darren turned her down and eventually she settled when she asked Darren to bring her a souvenir, and he accepted. After Darren had stolen Madam Octa, she came in Darren's room and saw Madam Octa and screamed. The Spider then bit Steve, paralyzing him. Causing Darren to hunt down Mr. Crepsley and to cure Steve.
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant[]
In the movie, no mention is made of Annie ever knowing anything about the Cirque until she is kidnapped along with the rest of her family by Murlough and Steve.

Sons of Destiny[]
Annie is shown briefly. Her first encounter was when Darren was spying on her through a fence of their old house. Annie had Darius out of wedlock after Steve had convinced Annie that he loved her. One night close to the end of her pregnancy, Steve returned and started to mock Annie and shake her violently, saying "Its too late now!" Darius's father is Steve. Annie learns that her brother, Darren, is still alive. She also learned her son, Darius, was a half vampaneze until Darren made the difficult decision to re-blood him, knowing they could both die. Thankfully, they both survived. Then Alice guided them to another town far far away from where they lived just in case Steve tried to attack them and take them hostage. She is not seen again.
